GalaQuest® will be hosting the annual ®. The Pageant will be held November 27, 2004 at the luxurious Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Airport Hotel. The pageant will feature collegiate females from all over the state of Florida. Contestants will vie to win a $2000 scholarship, a Caribbean cruise vacation for two, professional photo sessions, and the crown and the title to Collegiate Miss of Florida®. The top 12 finalists will each represent a month for the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar. The reigning Collegiate Miss of Florida will become the featured cover girl.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicants must be free from academic probation. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to apply.
  2. Applicants must be current students at any accredited Florida college or university.
  3. Applicants graduating Spring 2004 are eligible to compete.
  4. Applicants may be undergraduate or graduate level students.
  5. Applicants must not have any past misdemeanors or felonies.
  6. Applicants must not be married or have had past marriages.
  7. Applicants must be biologically born females.
  8. Applicants must be free from any collegiate disciplinary action.
  9. Applicants must be a current active member of a collegiate organization.
  10. GalaQuest reserves the right to disqualify or penalize any applicant in breach of any Eligibility Requirements. (top)

Contest Rules

  1. All contestants are required to complete and submit an application to compete.
  2. All contestants are required to represent a collegiate organization.
  3. Although there are no registration or application fees associated with the Collegiate Miss of Florida Scholarship Pageant, each contestant will be required to purchase their own competition sash. These sashes will help identify contestants during the pageant.
  4. All contestants are required to sell at least $200 worth of advertisements for the Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant Program Book. Failure to reach the minimum of $200 will result in a loss of points for the contestant.
  5. The pageant consists of three rounds: the preliminary round, the semifinal round, and the final round.
  6. The preliminary round includes the interview session and the casual wear competition. The interview session will be held November 26th and 27th at the Sheraton. Interviews will take place before the actual pageant evening. All Contestants will be given an interview appointment time.
  7. The semifinal round includes the top 12 candidates taken from the preliminary round. The top 12 candidates will compete in talent and formal wear competition.
  8. The final round includes the top 3 candidates taken from the semifinal round. The top 3 candidates will participate in a final question competition.
  9. The winner of the pageant will be crowned Collegiate Miss of Florida 2004. (Top)

Prizes

  1. All contestants will automatically be featured in a group photo to be placed in the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar.
  2. The top 12 candidates will each represent a month for the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar.
  3. The winner of the pageant will receive:
    1. $2000 CASH
    2. The Sash and the Title of Collegiate Miss of Florida 2004
    3. A crown and a bouquet of roses
    4. A Caribbean cruise for two
    5. A professional photo session
    6. $1000 to the organization she represents.
    7. The honor to represent the month of January for the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar.

Responsibilities of Collegiate Miss of Florida

  1. Collegiate Miss of Florida will serve as a positive role model. She will be a spokesperson for high school students aspiring to attain a collegiate indoctrination.
  2. Collegiate Miss of Florida will be the featured cover girl for the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar.
  3. Collegiate Miss of Florida will make guest appearances at various parades and events.
  4. Collegiate Miss of Florida will perform a return talent at the next Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant.
  5. Collegiate Miss of Florida will crown the next pageant winner.
  6. In the event that the current Collegiate Miss of Florida cannot fulfill her duties, the first runner up to the crown will fulfill those duties. (Top)

Competitions/Scoring

  1. Interview Session: All Contestants will take part in the Interview Session. Interviews will be held on November 26 and 27th at the Sheraton. Contestants are required to be at the Sheraton at their set appointment time. The Interview Session will be held before the actual pageant. Contestants will be given a set appointment time for their private interviews. A panel of judges will interview contestants. Interviews will count 75% towards the Preliminary Round Score.
  2. Casual Wear: All Contestants will take part in the Casual Wear competition. The Casual Wear competition will take place during the pageant. Contestants will model casual wear apparel of their choice. Casual Wear can be common day apparel worn on college campuses. Casual wear apparel could also relate to a contestant's major or the organization she represents. For example, if a contestant is representing her sorority, she may want to model her sorority jersey. If the contestant is a medical student, she may want to model her clinical attire. Creativity and diversity are encouraged in this competition. Casual Wear will count 25% towards the Preliminary Round Score.
  3. Formal Wear: The top 12 contestants taken from the preliminary round (preliminary round consists of the interview competition and the casual wear competition) will take part in the Formal Wear competition. The Formal Wear competition will take place during the pageant. Contestants will model formal wear apparel of their choice. Formal Wear will count 25% towards the Semifinal Round Score.
  4. Talent: The top 12 contestants taken from the preliminary round (preliminary round consists of the interview competition and the casual wear competition) will also take part in the Talent competition. Talents must not exceed 4 minutes in length. Any props or musical instruments needed by the contestant will be provided by the contestant. We will provide basic sound equipment (i.e. microphones, sound system, speakers, etc.). The Talent competition will count 75% towards the Semifinal Round Score.
  5. Final Question: The top 3 contestants taken from the semifinal round (semifinal round consists of the talent competition and formal wear competition) will advance to the final round. Each contestant will be given the opportunity to answer the Final Question. The question may relate to international or domestic affairs, politics, principles, values, controversial issues, etc. The Final Question may challenge a contestant's opinion upon a certain issue or topic. Contestants will not be judged on whether their answer was "right or wrong," but rather on how they supported their answer with factual information. The Final Question will count 100% towards the Final Round Score.
  6. The winner of the pageant will be determined by the highest Overall Score among the final 3 contestants. (Top)

Top 10 FAQ's

1. Can anybody join the pageant?

Any collegiate female can join the pageant, provided she meets the eligibility requirements as stated above. Once she meets the eligibility requirements, she needs to complete and submit an application. Once her application is approved, she will be an official contestant to vie for the crown of Collegiate Miss of Florida 2004.

2. When is the deadline to apply?

Friday; October 1, 2004; 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

3. Do I have to represent an organization to be in the pageant?

Yes. Furthermore, there is a $1,000 cash award given to the organization the winner represents. Representing an organization can help in establishing a base of support for the contestant during the actual pageant evening.

4. Is the Collegiate Miss of Florida Calendar a swimsuit calendar?

No. Each month of the Calendar will be a unique representation of each calendar girl's personality.

5. If I have any questions, what's the best way I can receive answers?

We are here to help you in any way we can. We want to make sure your pageant experience is a fun and memorable one.

6. When do I have to be at the Sheraton?

Interview Sessions will be held before the pageant. Contestants must be at the Sheraton at their set appointment time. Tardiness will result in a loss of points. It is not mandatory, but all contestants are highly urged to stay at the Sheraton on November 26th. You can reserve your rooms by calling the Sheraton at 954-920-3500. Important: The Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant Rate will be available October 1, 2004. You and any of your guests will receive a discount on your reservations.

7. For my talent, I need a piano. Do you provide instruments?

Not at this time. It is the contestant's responsibility to provide herself with any necessary props or instruments. We provide the basics- professional sound team, sound system, and microphones. However, should anything change, and we are able to provide certain instruments or props; we will notify contestants accordingly.

8. I have guests asking for tickets to see the pageant. How can they purchase tickets?

Tickets will be available September 10, 2004. We will also mail you ticket order forms. There will only be a limited number of tickets available. Although crowd approval is not an official competition category, it may be able to influence a judge's scoring. It never hurts to have a cheering section.

9. Is the Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant affiliated with any of the Preliminary pageants associated with Miss Florida and the Miss America Pageant?

The Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant has no affiliation whatsoever with the Preliminary pageant system associated with Miss Florida and the Miss America Pageant. The Collegiate Miss of Florida Pageant is hosted and produced by GalaQuest.

10. How should I prepare for the Interview Session?

All contestants should have a current resume that includes all collegiate achievements, organizational memberships, campus activities, and community service. 3 copies of the contestant's resume must be furnished for the 3 judges. Contestants will be given sample interview questions to study. Contestants will also be given spontaneous questions not covered on the sample interview questions. The interview will encompass current events- domestic and international, controversial topics, the contestants' collegiate experiences, and principles and values. (Top)
